O Lord, for the sake of your promise give me life,
that I may know your decrees.

Verse 1:
I take delight in your statutes;
I will not forget your word.
(Psalm 119:16)

Treat your servant with merciful love;
never take the word of truth from my mouth.
(Psalm 119:124, 43)
Verse 3:
Grant me insight to learn your commands;
accept, Lord, the homage of my lips.
(Psalm 119:73, 108)
Verse 4:
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
(Gloria Patri)
Composer's Notes:
These recent series of Offertory Antiphons demonstrate my first time composing in Mode VI. I find it delightful and hopeful, but still contemplative.
I studied several ancient chants to capture the feeling in this mode, including:
Magnificat
Psalmus 116: Laudate
Regina Caeli
Ubi Caritas
All of these can be found in Jubilate Deo.
I hope this setting gives you that sense of hope and trust in God that Queen Esther herself must have experienced as she prayed to God for help against the evil Haman.
