First Reading

Zephaniah 3:14-18a

Shout for joy, O daughter Zion!
      Sing joyfully, O Israel!
   Be glad and exult with all your heart,
      O daughter Jerusalem!
   The LORD has removed the judgment against you,
      he has turned away your enemies;
   The King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst,
      you have no further misfortune to fear.
   On that day, it shall be said to Jerusalem:
      Fear not, O Zion, be not discouraged!
   The LORD, your God, is in your midst,
      a mighty savior;
   He will rejoice over you with gladness,
      and renew you in his love,
   He will sing joyfully because of you,
      as one sings at festivals.

Primera Lectura

Sofonías 3, 14-18

Canta, hija de Sión,
da gritos de júbilo, Israel,
gózate y regocíjate de todo corazón, Jerusalén.
El Señor ha levantado su sentencia contra ti,
ha expulsado a todos tus enemigos.
El Señor será el rey de Israel en medio de ti
y ya no temerás ningún mal.

Aquel día dirán a Jerusalén:
“No temas, Sión,
que no desfallezcan tus manos.
El Señor, tu Dios, tu poderoso salvador,
está en medio de ti.
Él se goza y se complace en ti;

Among you is the great and Holy One of Israel.

God indeed is my savior;
   I am confident and unafraid.
My strength and my courage is the LORD,

Give thanks to the LORD, acclaim his name;
among the nations make known his deeds,
proclaim how exalted is his name.

Verse 3:

Sing praise to the LORD for his glorious achievement;

Romans 12:9-16

Brothers and sisters:
Let love be sincere;
   hate what is evil,
   hold on to what is good;

   anticipate one another in showing honor.
Do not grow slack in zeal,
   be fervent in spirit,
   serve the Lord.
Rejoice in hope,
   endure in affliction,
   persevere in prayer.
Contribute to the needs of the holy ones,
   exercise hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you,
   bless and do not curse them.
Rejoice with those who rejoice,
   weep with those who weep.
Have the same regard for one another;
   do not be haughty but associate with the lowly;

Segunda Lectura

Romanos 12, 9-16

Hermanos: Que el amor de ustedes sea sincero. Aborrezcan el mal y practiquen el bien; ámense cordialmente los unos a los otros, como buenos hermanos; que cada uno estime a los otros más que a sí mismo. En el cumplimiento de su deber, no sean negligentes y mantengan un espíritu fervoroso al servicio del Señor. Que la esperanza los mantenga alegres; sean constantes en la tribulación y perseverantes en la oración. Ayuden a los hermanos en sus necesidades y esmérense en la hospitalidad.

Bendigan a los que los persiguen; bendíganlos, no los maldigan. Alégrense con los que se alegran; lloren con los que lloran. Que reine la concordia entre ustedes. No sean, pues, altivos; más bien pónganse al nivel de los humildes.

Luke 1:39-56

Mary set out
   and traveled to the hill country in haste
   to a town of Judah,
   where she entered the house of Zechariah
   and greeted Elizabeth.
When Elizabeth heard Marys greeting,
   the infant leaped in her womb,
   and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,
   cried out in a loud voice and said,
   Most blessed are you among women,
   and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
And how does this happen to me,
   that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears,
   the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
Blessed are you who believed
   that what was spoken to you by the Lord
   would be fulfilled.

And Mary said:
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
   my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
   for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
   the Almighty has done great things for me,
   and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him
   in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
   he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
   and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
   and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
   for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
   the promise he made to our fathers,
   to Abraham and his children for ever.

Mary remained with her about three months
and then returned to her home.

Evangelio

Lucas 1, 39-56

En aquellos días, María se encaminó presurosa a un pueblo de las montañas de Judea, y entrando en la casa de Zacarías, saludó a Isabel. En cuanto ésta oyó el saludo de María, la criatura saltó en su seno.

Entonces Isabel quedó llena del Espíritu Santo, y levantando la voz, exclamó: ¡Bendita tú entre las mujeres y bendito el fruto de tu vientre! ¿Quién soy yo para que la madre de mi Señor venga a verme? Apenas llegó tu saludo a mis oídos, el niño saltó de gozo en mi seno. Dichosa tú, que has creído, porque se cumplirá cuanto te fue anunciado de parte del Señor.

Entonces dijo María:
Mi alma glorifica al Señor
y mi espíritu se llena de júbilo en Dios, mi salvador,
porque puso sus ojos en la humildad, de su esclava.

Desde ahora me llamarán dichosa todas las generaciones,
porque ha hecho en mí grandes cosas el que todo lo puede.
Santo es su nombre
y su misericordia llega de generación en generación
a los que lo temen.

Ha hecho sentir el poder de su brazo:
dispersó a los de corazón altanero,
destronó a los potentados
y exaltó a los humildes.
A los hambrientos los colmó de bienes
y a los ricos los despidió sin nada.

Acordándose de su misericordia,
vino en ayuda de Israel, su siervo,
como lo había prometido a nuestros padres,
a Abraham y a su descendencia,
para siempre.

María permaneció con Isabel unos tres meses, y se volvio a su casa.
