Antífona de Ofertorio – 27º TO (Modo II, De La Torre)

Lyrics / Letras

There was a man in the land of Hus, whose name was Job,
simple, and upright, and fearing God,
whom Satan besought that he might tempt,
and power was given him from the Lord
over his possessions and his flesh;
and he destroyed all his substance and his children;
and wounded his flesh also with a grievous ulcer.
(Job 1, 2:7)

Verse 1:

O that my sins, whereby I have deserved wrath,
and the calamity the calamity,
the calamity that I suffer
would appear heavier.
(Job 6:2-3)

Verse 2:

For what is my strength,
that I can hold out?
Or, what is my end,
that I should keep patience?
(Job 6:11)

Verse 3:

For my strength is not the strength of stones,
nor is my flesh of brass.
(Job 6:12)

Verse 4:

For my eye shall not return
to see good things.
(Job 7:7)

Verse 5:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
(Gloria Patri)
