First Reading
Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14
As I watched:
Thrones were set up
and the Ancient One took his throne.
His clothing was bright as snow,
and the hair on his head as white as wool;
his throne was flames of fire,
with wheels of burning fire.
A surging stream of fire
flowed out from where he sat;
Thousands upon thousands were ministering to him,
and myriads upon myriads attended him.
The court was convened and the books were opened.
As the visions during the night continued, I saw
One like a Son of man coming,
on the clouds of heaven;
When he reached the Ancient One
and was presented before him,
The one like a Son of man received dominion, glory, and kingship;
all peoples, nations, and languages serve him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion
that shall not be taken away,
his kingship shall not be destroyed.
Primera Lectura
Daniel 7, 9-10. 13-14
Yo, Daniel, tuve una visión nocturna:
vi que colocaban unos tronos
y un anciano se sentó.
Su vestido era blanco como la nieve,
y sus cabellos, blancos como lana.
Su trono, llamas de fuego,
con ruedas encendidas.
Un río de fuego brotaba delante de él.
Miles y miles lo servían,
millones y millones estaban a sus órdenes.
Comenzó el juicio y se abrieron los libros.
Yo seguí contemplando en mi visión nocturna
y vi a alguien semejante a un hijo de hombre,
que venía entre las nubes del cielo.
Avanzó hacia el anciano de muchos siglos
y fue introducido a su presencia.
Entonces recibió la soberanía, la gloria y el reino.
Y todos los pueblos y naciones
de todas las lenguas lo servían.
Su poder nunca se acabará, porque es un poder eterno,
y su reino jamás será destruido.

2 Peter 1:16-19
Beloved:
We did not follow cleverly devised myths
when we made known to you
the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty.
For he received honor and glory from God the Father
when that unique declaration came to him from the majestic glory,
“This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased.”
We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven
while we were with him on the holy mountain.
Moreover, we possess the prophetic message that is altogether reliable.
You will do well to be attentive to it,
as to a lamp shining in a dark place,
until day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
Segunda Lectura
2 Pedro 1, 16-19
Hermanos: Cuando les anunciamos la venida gloriosa y llena de poder de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, no lo hicimos fundados en fábulas hechas con astucia, sino por haberlo visto con nuestros propios ojos en toda su grandeza. En efecto, Dios lo llenó de gloria y honor, cuando la sublime voz del Padre resonó sobre él, diciendo: Este es mi Hijo amado, en quien yo me complazco. Y nosotros escuchamos esta voz, venida del cielo, mientras estábamos con el Señor en el monte santo.
Tenemos también la firmísima palabra de los profetas, a la que con toda razón ustedes consideran como una lámpara que ilumina en la oscuridad, hasta que despunte el día y el lucero de la mañana amanezca en los corazones de ustedes.

Matthew 17:1-9
Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother, John,
and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
And he was transfigured before them;
his face shone like the sun
and his clothes became white as light.
And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them,
conversing with him.
Then Peter said to Jesus in reply,
“Lord, it is good that we are here.
If you wish, I will make three tents here,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
While he was still speaking, behold,
a bright cloud cast a shadow over them,
then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased;
listen to him.”
When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate
and were very much afraid.
But Jesus came and touched them, saying,
“Rise, and do not be afraid.”
And when the disciples raised their eyes,
they saw no one else but Jesus alone.
As they were coming down from the mountain,
Jesus charged them,
“Do not tell the vision to anyone
until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”

Mateo 17, 1-9
En aquel tiempo, Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, a Santiago y a Juan, el hermano de éste, y los hizo subir a solas con él a un monte elevado. Ahí se transfiguró en su presencia: su rostro se puso resplandeciente como el sol y sus vestiduras se volvieron blancas como la nieve. De pronto aparcieron ante ellos Moisés y Elías, conversando con Jesús.
Entonces Pedro le dijo a Jesús: “Señor, ¡qué bueno sería quedarnos aquí! Si quieres, haremos aquí tres chozas, una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías”.
Cuando aún estaba hablando, una nube luminosa los cubrió y de ella salió una voz que decía: “Este es mi Hijo muy amado, en quien tengo puestas mis complacencias; escúchenlo”. Al oír esto, los discípulos cayeron rostro en tierra, llenos de un gran temor. Jesús se acercó a ellos, los tocó y les dijo: “Levántense y no teman”. Alzando entonces los ojos, ya no vieron a nadie más que a Jesús.
Mientras bajaban del monte, Jesús les ordenó: “No le cuenten a nadie lo que han visto, hasta que el Hijo del hombre haya resucitado de entre los muertos”.
